Pesso-Method Workshop in South Manchester Spring 2010

18th April

The Pesso Method is used for personal growth and self development in a group format. It leads to new perspectives in understanding and to healing of past hurts: from general feelings of dissatisfaction / disquiet, to specific things which can block a person. Examples of issues addressed include:

The Pesso Method goes beyond 'talk therapy.' It systematically uses the emotional centre of the brain (the limbic system) to play a full part in natural 'mind-body' healing. The method respects the client, and clients report increased pleasure, satisfaction, meaning and connectedness in life as a result of the work (see participant feedback on page 2).

Workshop Leaders

Sally Potter and Pete Mann completed training in the UK in the Pesso Method in 2004. Additionally, since 2003 they have continued advanced training each summer in the USA with Al Pesso, who continues to elaborate this powerful therapeutic approach (called Pesso-Boyden System Psychomotor), co-founded with his wife, Diane Boyden.

Participant Feedback from previous workshops

1) I felt that being able to call on others to be part of the structure was wonderfully supportive and soothing . . . Likewise, being called on by others [subsequently, in their structures] felt a real privilege. And in process terms, felt appropriate to reflect our taking responsibility (not relying on one person, the therapist in this case) to be healed.

I was, and still am, amazed how right the ending that you set up felt for me; right in the sense of it being right in the universe, the sands shifting to their proper place. . .

What difference has it made? An extraordinary amount of difference. I feel completely different towards my father, and my relationship with him has changed significantly. . . It's difficult to describe but the closest words I can think of are that I have forgiven him; but this isn't quite right. . . It feels as if I've moved on; and that I can move on with the rest of my life.

2) I experienced benefit from the work I did last Sunday. How I took care of myself was different this week when I was feeling frightened. I was much more welcoming and subsequently felt much happier. Good stuff!

3) I cannot believe what a difference [the session] has made and the way it has already enabled me to feel confident to be clear and honest in the relationship. I know there are boundaries there that were missing before. I think I'd forgotten just how powerful this work [is], and you both handled it with such skill and focus. I am so grateful.
